Week 12, 2022

Week twelve of Cultivate Delight, where we are actively planning our spiritual endeavors this coming week with the goal of a consistent time spent engaging our hearts with Christ in his word, in prayer, in reflection, and in music. Below are some starting points for reflection, and I hope you find them helpful. The goal is to not just rush through these and then get on with your day. Take your time and reflect throughout the week on these items.

This week we are focusing on the law of God by reflecting on being content with the goodness of God.

Liturgy – New City Catechism

Question 12: What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?

Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone or resenting what God has given them or us.

James 2:8
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.

Prayer

My Heavenly Father. Everything I have and everything I need comes from your hand alone. There is not one thing missing from my life that should be there. Your loving kindness brings contentment to my life. Content to be your child. All that this world has to offer pales in comparison to the riches of knowing Christ. Forgive me when I lose sight of this, and I begin to look with envy at the world around me. I begin to question and doubt your goodness. Cast this doubt far from me and bring the truth of your word into my heart. You alone are good. You bring goodness into my life. You bring the light of the gospel into my heart and shine forth your love deep within me. Thank you, Father. Your mercies are new morning. Let me be reminded of your goodness each and every moment of each and every day. Let your goodness flow in me as simple as taking a breath.

Good God Almighty – Crowder

Love One Another

[Verse 1]
I can’t count the times I’ve called Your name some broken night
And You showed up and patched me up like You do every time
I get amnesia, I forget that You keep coming around
Yeah, ain’t no way You’ll ever let me down

[Chorus]
Good God almighty, I hope You’ll find me
Praising Your name no matter what comes
‘Cause I know where I’d be without Your mercy
So I keep praising Your name at the top of my lungs

[Post-Chorus]
Tell me, is He good? (He’s good) Tell me, is He God? (He’s God)
Hе is Good God almighty

[Verse 2]
You say Your love goes on forevеr, that Your mercy never stops
So why would I assume You’ll be somebody that You’re not?
Like sun in the morning, I know You’re gonna be there every day
So what on Earth could make me be afraid?

(He’s God)
He is Good God almighty

[Bridge]
Praise Him in the morning, praise Him in the noon time
Praise Him when the sun goes down
Love Him in the morning, love Him in the noon time
Love Him when the sun goes down

[Chorus]
Good God almighty, I hope You’ll find me (I hope You’ll find me)
Praising Your name no matter what comes (No matter what comes)
‘Cause I know where I’d be without Your mercy
So I keep praising Your name at the top of my lungs

[Post-Chorus]
Tell me, is He good? (He’s good) Tell me, is He God? (He’s God)
He is Good God almighty

[Outro]
Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the noon time
Jesus when the sun goes down
Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the noon time
Jesus when the sun goes down
