Week 36, 2022

Week Thirty-six of Cultivate Delight, where we are actively planning our spiritual endeavors this coming week with the goal of a consistent time spent engaging our hearts with Christ in his word, in prayer, in reflection, and in music. Below are some starting points for reflection, and I hope you find them helpful. The goal is to not just rush through these and then get on with your day. Take your time and reflect throughout the week on these items.

“The Spirit of God is not the fruit of our prayers, but our prayers are the fruit of God’s Spirit.”
– Ralph Brownrig, Repentance and Prayer

Question 36: What do we believe about the Holy Spirit?

That he is God, coeternal with the Father and the Son, and that God grants him irrevocably to all who believe.

John 14:16–17
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

Prayer

The Spirit of the living God is alive in me.
He abides with me. Making his home in my heart.
He is not just a passerby that slows down to look from a distance.
He is not a visitor that comes by occasionally to check in.

He has taken up residence in my heart and lives in communion with me.
The Holy Spirit of God has united himself to me.
In some mysterious way I have been joined in relationship to the trinity.
The Spirit himself has committed himself to me in a special way.

This is the source of my confidence and hope.
The One that has joined himself to me,
The One who has committed himself to me,
He will never ever leave me and will steadfastly love and care for me.

I am never alone.
The isolation and loneliness I may feel is not accurate.
I am never ever alone.
The Spirit of the living God is here with me and brings all comfort and peace.

Jeremy Camp – Same Power

Same Power

I can see
Waters raging at my feet
I can feel
The breath of those surrounding me
I can hear
The sound of nations rising up
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

I can walk
Down this dark and painful road
I can face
Every fear of the unknown
I can hear
All God’s children singing out
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us

We have hope
That His promises are true
In His strength
There is nothing we can’t do
Yes, we know
There are greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us

Greater is He that is living in me
He’s conquered our enemy
No power of darkness
No weapon prevails
We stand here in victory

Greater is He that is living in me
He’s conquered our enemy
No power of darkness
No weapon prevails
We stand here in victory
Oh, in victory
Yeah!

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us (lives in us)
Lives in us

Yeah, He lives in us
