Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV
Rejoice… Pray… Give Thanks…
Always… Without Ceasing… All Circumstances
Every moment of every day with every single breath of my life, God’s will for me is to rejoice, pray, and give thanks. This has not been the pattern of my life at all. I can see the increasing occurrence of them in my heart as the Spirit continues to move within me, but they have not been with these adjectives.
This is definitely one of the lessons that the Lord has been teaching me this year. These three go together and feed off each other. If I am rejoicing, then I will pray and give thanks. If I am praying, then I will rejoice and give thanks. If I am giving thanks, I will rejoice and pray. It’s a beautiful cycle of humility.
Rejoice over the sovereign hand of God working in my life.
Pray for the grace of Christ to fill my heart.
Give thanks for all the blessings my Father bestows.
I need to be more intentional about incorporating this into my life. I do want it to flow naturally at all times as this passage says, but I think there should be some intentional time dedicated to pursuing these three and cultivating my heart to make these a natural flowing element of life.
I think I should find a way to do this at least twice a day… Morning and evening. Set aside time to reflect in my day. Rejoicing and praying and giving thanks.
