Ask, Seek, Knock

Journal Entry // January 14, 2021

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7 ESV

This seems far too simplistic and easy. We live in a world where we are taught to be skeptical of everything, but especially anything that seems too good to be true. And this definitely would fall into that category except that this promise is made by the one person incapable of lying. This is a promise of Christ spoken about our God heavenly Father.

What must we do? We must ask, seek, and knock for the glory of God alone. In this we will always be answered. When we are self-centered and want to ask, seek and knock for our own purpose, then we can expect no answer. When I am living for Christ and seeking first his kingdom and his righteousness, then all my queries will be fruitful. My relationship will be focused solely on Jesus. My mind and eyes will be captivated by things above.

O Lord, give me this heart attitude that asks, seeks, and knocks to grow ever closer to you. To cast of the shackles of sin and take up the cross of Christ. The burden if Christ is light and his yoke is easy.
