Readying the Bride

Journal Entry // December 31, 2021

Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;

Revelation 19:7 ESV

O how I long for this day to arrive. The day when the Church is swept up and presented in marriage to the Lamb. That day is the culmination of thousands of years of God’s hand guiding and preparing and making the Church ready to be the Bride of Christ. What a glorious and wonderful day. A day that will be for rejoicing, exulting, and giving all glory to the Jesus. The day when all of the enemies of God will be removed to the place prepared for them and the people of God will be with their beloved.

These are the thoughts that need to occupy my heart and mind on a continual basis. Life is not about these minor points that are passing away. Life is about Jesus. All of this points to Jesus. The marriage is coming and the Bride is preparing herself.

Am I preparing myself for that day? Am I spending my time engaging with Christ on a deep intentional emotional level? Am I clothing myself in the bright white linen of righteous deeds? Am I loving Christ with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength?

These are the important questions I need to be asking myself every day and even every moment. This is the point of life… Jesus. Loving him inwardly and sharing his love outwardly. This is the labor of faith. This is my purpose. This is my meaning. This is my desire.

Come quickly Lord Jesus!
