Week 27, 2022

Week Twenty-seven of Cultivate Delight, where we are actively planning our spiritual endeavors this coming week with the goal of a consistent time spent engaging our hearts with Christ in his word, in prayer, in reflection, and in music. Below are some starting points for reflection, and I hope you find them helpful. The goal is to not just rush through these and then get on with your day. Take your time and reflect throughout the week on these items.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ is ascended to heaven beforehand to prepare a place for the elect there.”
― Christopher Love, Christ’s Ascension

Question 27: Are all people, just as they were lost through Adam, saved through Christ?

No, only those who are elected by God and united to Christ by faith. Nevertheless God in his mercy demonstrates common grace even to those who are not elect, by restraining the effects of sin and enabling works of culture for human well-being.

Romans 5:17
For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

Heaven in His Eyes – Rich Mullins

Heaven in His Eyes

See the Teacher, sitting on a mountain
See Him walking along the shore
Friends and disciples gathering around Him
Say never spake a man like this before

But why’s a man as wise as He
Weeping alone in Gethsemane
And did He know some would never see
The Heaven in His eyes

See the Master walking on the water
Hear Him speak and calm an angry wave
Look at Him raise up Jairus’s daughter
And with a word Lazarus comes forth from the grave

But why is a man as strong as this
Being betrayed by a good friend’s kiss
And could it be that maybe this man missed
The Heaven in His eyes

And I’m not talking about the pie in the sky
That you good boys and girls get in the by and by
But rather the strength, the strength that we can find
If we’ve got the guts to try

See the Teacher playing with the children
Hear Him baffle doctors of the law
Look at the people gathering to go with Him
Those who see the vision that He saw

This is why a man as holy as He
Had to die alone on Calvary
It was the only way that we could ever see

The Heaven in His eyes
The Heaven in His eyes
The Heaven in His eyes
Yeah, the Heaven in His eyes
The Heaven in His eyes
